Company History

The Estes Equipment Company organization consist of three separate companies located
in Birmingham, Chattanooga and Knoxville.  These operations run independently with
separate accounting systems.  The strong management team of each company allows us
the flexibility to function successfully as one.

Estes Equipment Company was founded in 1954 by Mr. Thomas Earl Estes in Chattanooga, Tennessee as Estes Pump Service.  At that time it was strictly a service
organization for the major oil companies and small jobbers in the area.

In 1959, the company expanded into sales and installation by representing Dresser Wayne and several other petroleum equipment manufacturers.  At this point the company name was changed to Estes Pump Sales & Service.  The company continued to grow in all phases of operations.

It was in 1963 when the company was incorporated into Estes Equipment Company, Inc. as it has remained to this date.

In 1981, Gary Estes opened Estes Petroleum Equipment Co. in Knoxville, TN offering sales, service and installation of fueling systems. 

Mr. Thomas Earl Estes had been the major stockholder in Chattanooga until 1984.  At the age of sixty-two he decided to retire and sold the company to Gary Estes and Dan Durham.

Estes Equipment Company, Inc. Birmingham was started in 1986.  The ownership consist of Gary Estes, Dan Durham, Don Nelson, Dale Simmons, Lynn Simmons and Rodney Beasley.  The company has grown to offer complete sales, service and installation to its large jobber, dealer, industrial and government customer base.
